The past few weeks have been eventful to say the least 😲
First, at the risk of blowing my own horn, I’ve been accepted into the Masters in Public Management Program at John Hopkins University (picture below). Thank God that all of the administrative work (which I despise) inherent to the application process paid off 😝
For those who know me, they may be wondering in what direction I plan on going with this educational track. The short answer is that despite my personal philosophy, I also recognize that I can be a force for practical and positive change within a deeply flawed system. In other words: “The price that good [people] pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil [people]” (Plato).
In any event, I look forward to this new path on my journey, as well as the relationships and knowledge I will gain toward helping shape my children’s world. Lastly, thanks very much to everyone who supported me to this point, especially my family 😊
On the homefront, Adrienne got a taste of her future time spent in the ER as a surgeon. For Orion – apparently curious about his what his ear canals can be used for – managed to lodge a small jewel (plucked from one of Adrienne’s dresses) in his left ear. For those not too squeamish, the video is linked below. Luckily, the operation was a success (due in no small part to my fishing hemostats 😉).
Lastly, the children and I had a great time stream-walking at the Gunpowder River with Mom-mom. Victoria found and caught some fish and a frog, Blair found and caught some fish, and Orion found some burpees 😝 He’s growing stronger every day 😉
Soon, I’ll also be linking photos and a video of my recent (annual) camping and fishing trip with my brother on the Rapidan and Rappahannock River in Virginia. For those who like camping and fishing, stay tuned for the forthcoming links 😃
Until next time, have fun, be safe, and enjoy your summer!
